Night Shift by Quarterflash from the album: Harden My Heart... The Best Of Quarterflash

#023 QUARTERFLASH - NIGHT SHIFT (FROM “NIGHT SHIFT”) (1982) Possibly one of the greatest brothel-in-a-morgue comedies in cinema history, Ron Howard’s Night Shift sees The Fonz nerding up as a neurotic morgue attendant, and Shelley Long prozzing up as a tart with a heart, in a bit of genius or lunatic casting depending on your viewpoint. Michael Keaton gets some Beetlejuice practice in and the soundtrack is a stealth winner, introducing us to some Bacharach penned doozies from a decade when he was somewhat forgotten. Alongside the title track here from a band incapable of not having a sax break were Chaka Khan, Heaven 17, Talk Talk and Al Jarreau, more of whom we’ll be seeing tomorrow.
